## Details
Welcome to the third session of the Communication By Captivations (CBC) Drama Club, hosted by John Rodgers!
After a fantastic second session where we explored the foundational elements of acting, we're excited to dive deeper into the art of performance. In this next meeting, we’ll focus on three key areas: Monologues, Dialogues, and Character Analysis & Development. Whether you’re preparing for an audition or just looking to refine your acting technique, this session will offer valuable tools to elevate your performance.
### What to Expect:
- Introductions (10 minutes):
We’ll kick things off with a warm welcome and brief introductions, setting the stage for a collaborative and supportive environment. We’ll also cover any important announcements.
- Theater Spotlight Reflections (20 minutes):
As is tradition, we will watch a selected video of a theatrical performance, that we will review and discuss. Participants will reflect on what makes the performance effective and share their thoughts with the group. This will spark discussion about key acting techniques, character choices, and how different interpretations bring depth to a scene.
- Subject of the Day: Monologues, Dialogues, and Character Analysis & Development (50 minutes):
This week, we’ll explore the heart of acting: how to connect with and develop a character. The session will cover:
- Monologues: Learn how to deliver a compelling monologue with emotional depth and clarity. We’ll discuss techniques for memorization, pacing, and staying engaged with your character's inner journey.
- Dialogues: Explore the dynamics of performing in scenes with another actor. This includes listening, responding, and adjusting to create authentic, compelling interactions that drive the story forward.
- Character Analysis & Development: Delve into the process of creating a fully realized character. Learn how to analyze a script to uncover motivations, backstory, objectives, and obstacles that will shape your portrayal.
- Debrief and Review (10 minutes):
We’ll close the session with a reflective discussion on what we’ve learned and how to apply these techniques to our own performances. This is a chance to ask questions, share experiences, and discuss ideas for future sessions.
Everyone is welcome—whether you’re a seasoned actor or just beginning your journey in the world of performance. The CBC Drama Club is here to nurture creativity and provide a supportive environment for growth. Join us for a session full of exploration, learning, and fun!
We look forward to seeing you there and continuing our journey together!
Please bring a Notebook and something to write with!
