9:45am - Meet, book raffle and signing

10am - Depart SHARP traveling South West along the bridle path with no stops, going through Winterdale Arch to get to the Summit Rock (see map in pictures). Walk leader will not be able to check for messages. WE NEED TO DEPART ON TIME AT 10Am!

10:20am - Approximate Summit Rock arrival and Sara's presentation until 11:15am. People who asked for an accomodation can meet us there.

Rain cancels Sara's presentation. But we'll still walk in the rain.

We have a date! The esteemed Sara Cedar Miller will be leading our walk and talk on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024 at 10am. Sara is the Central Park historian emerita! She is the foremost expert on the park we love and has written several highly praised books that are used as historical references and also include lots of unknown factoids! We’re the Central Park NYC Chapter of Ever Walk – an international movement to encourage people to walk together to enhance physical and mental health. Founded by one of the greatest women athletes of our time, Diana Nyad, and her coach and friend, Bonnie Stoll. Diana swam from Cuba to Florida in shark infested waters without a shark cage - check the movie NYAD on Netflix if you want to be inspired!

The Basics

• DISTANCE: Free presentation on Central Park.
• START: Meet at 9:45 and leave at 10am right after book signing and autographed book raffle. We really do!
• DURATION: Sara's presentation will be from 10:20am to 11:15am at Summit Rock. Our walk will continue through about 12:15pm.
• PACE: Conversational pace.
• PATHS: Mainly on a mixture of dirt and asphalt paths with one long hill to Summit Rock.
• MEETUP SPOT: Start is in the same Central Park location every week on the Bridle Path (dirt path) - enter the park from 90th St. & 5th Ave. and cross the road with runners and cyclists. Look for 30-50 smiling faces in front of the John Purroy Mitchel Monument on the stone wall below the reservoir.

The end spot for this walk is at Summit Rock after Sara's presentation or you can continue on with the group for a short walk and return to 90th St & 5th Ave.

• WEATHER: Sara's presentation cancels if rain. We walk rain or shine!
• BATHROOMS: On your own. No stops.
• RELEASE: If you participate in a walk you are responsible for yourself and agree not to hold the EverWalk organization, its leaders or members liable in any way for any injuries or damage which may occur as a result of your participation.

• FUN: Every walk is an adventure. We acknowledge special park events, celebrate national awareness days when we can and explore different parts of the park.
• DOGS: On leash dogs that are dog and people friendly are welcome to join.
• SOCIAL: We take pics and make reels and post on social media.

• COVID-19: You must have been COVID-19 vaccinated (at some point) to walk with us.
