Details

#NO LEADER# - Mike E is out after surgery

  1. Bring a spare tire tube in case you get a flat.
  2. Parking is available on Lincoln Street next to HopFly Brewing or on Commerce Street across from HopFly Brewing.
  3. It is essential that all riders follow some basic group ride safety procedures:
  • Pay close attention to the bicycle in front of you
  • Call out "Slowing" immediately if you use your brakes or the rider in front of you calls "Slowing"
  • Communicate all road hazards you observe to your fellow riders; "Car left", "Hole", "Car passing", etc.
  • Make sure you check beside you and behind you and communicate to the other riders if you want to move out from behind the bicycle in front of you
  • Try to stay behind the bicycle in front of you or clearly move into a safe passing lane next to that bicycle; don't ride half-wheel
  • Communication with your fellow bikers is the key
  • Ask questions at the start of the ride if you would like clarification of any of these guidelines

Bike Helmets are mandatory on all rides. Gloves, bright clothing, eye protection and a mirror are recommended. This is a no drop ride. All riders must be willing to stay with the group due to the many turns on this ride. If you pass the leader, you are on your own!

Your bike must have brakes, as required by the Charlotte City Code.

Restrooms are available at Mile 17 on the 25-mile route and at Mile 14 and at Mile 32 on the 40-mile route. We will re-group at least 6 times during the ride.

Please bring plenty of water and snacks if needed.

Bring money or a credit card if you plan on eating/drinking. A bike lock is recommended to lock your bike at the end.

Weather Policy:

The ride is cancelled if it is raining or if radar shows it will be raining by the start of the ride or if the temperature is below 33 degrees at the start of the ride. If the ride is cancelled I will send out a cancellation message to the email that you registered with on Meetup--so make sure you check that account before you leave for the ride.
