An extended weekend of Camping, hiking, and other excursions at the NPS Prince William Forest Park. A woodland oasis located just off I-95 North of Fredericksburg.
We will be staying in Oak Ridge Campground. Campsites will have to be reserved in advance at Recreation.gov . I have reserved site B-16 and there seems to be some good sites near there. The campground has heated bathrooms with flush toilets and showers. You may be able to share a campsite or tent with someone else and you are welcome to camp as many nights as meets your schedule. (Or maybe find local lodging). Visit https://www.nps.gov/prwi/index.htm for Park information concerning the Park.
Thursday Nov 14th there will be a scheduled day hike of the Park followed on Friday by an excursion to Crow's Nest Natural Area Preserve. Then depending on interest there are other potential weekend activities such as visiting Arlington Cemetery, The National Mall, US Marine Museum or hikes such as Great Falls-Potomac River or Mason Neck State Park. Note each vehicle will need to have a Park Pass or pay an online entrance fee. Updates to participants as we get closer to the date.
