Sa Kap Fet Mes Amis! I don’t know about you, but it has been very hard for me to meet fellow Haitians in Baltimore. The Haitian experience in Maryland is very different in comparison to that in New Jersey, New York, Florida and/or Boston.
From the outside looking in, the Haitian community in Baltimore, in my opinion, is downright invisible! I know I can go to Park Heights for yummy Jamaican and/or Trinidadian foods or travel to Randallstown for a little “international” grocery shoppin; but where can I go to buy a bottle of Kremas, piece of pain patate, or bottle of l’huile maskriti? Where can I go to sit down and eat lambi, legume avec sous poi, or diri a djon djon? Clueless!
When I came across the Meet Up site, it hit me- WHY NOT CREATE A GROUP JUST SO YOU CAN MEET AND SOCIALIZE W/FELLOW HAITIANS LIVING IN BALTIMORE?
My vision for this group is to create opportunities to bring Haitians and/or Haitian-Americans together. By no means is this a dating site! If you are seeking to establish a connection with fellow Haitians while exploring all of the cultural experiences Baltimore and the surrounding cities have to offer, then by all means, welcome!
