What we’re about
Pull up a chair and pour a glass of something tasty as we dive in to our latest book of the month. This is a fun, welcoming group of women who certainly enjoy reading and discussing our book picks - but we also enjoy cocktails and catching up on each other's lives! New faces (and new reading suggestions) are always welcome! We meet every month in different locations in the greater Chattanooga area.
House Rules
1. We pride ourselves on being a group of active participants, so please keep in mind that if you join the group but don't attend any events, you may be removed. This is something done on a rolling basis to help keep our number of members manageable. If you are removed, you are always welcome to rejoin us again in the future.
2. This is a safe space for sharing and tolerating personal opinions about the books we read and their context in the real world. We are a generally liberal learning group of women and accept members from all backgrounds. If you don't feel comfortable with an open dialogue that respects equally all races, political views, religious (and non-religious) beliefs, and sexual orientations - this group is probably not for you.
3. As a women's group, it is important to us for safety reasons that we know who is attending our meetings. Therefore, you are required to have a profile with a picture that shows your face clearly and at least your first name. If your face or name is not visible, you will not be accepted as a member.
4. Now that our group is back to meeting in person, we ask that anyone attending book club be fully vaccinated against COIVD-19. If you wish to discuss this policy, please message one of the organizers privately.
5. You don't have to finish the book (or even start the book) to attend but it will not be a spoiler-free zone. You must be okay with spoilers and discussions of any twists, turns, and shocking endings.
6. The group is free to join and event fees (~$3) help prevent repeated no shows and offset the cost of hosting on the meet up platform. Please only RSVP once you are sure you can attend since refunds can not be issued if you change or cancel your RSVP. The RSVPs lock 2 days before the event (generally 7pm on Monday before our Wednesday meeting) so that hosts can have time to prepare for the correct number of guests.
7. Booze is not required! Although most of us enjoy a glass of wine or a fun cocktail, we welcome non-drinkers into our ranks! We often have members who don't drink for whatever reason be it pregnancy, Dry January, health, religion, etc. That being said, there will be alcohol and everyone is expected to respect each other's preferences around alcohol. This group is 21+.
