Just like the name suggests it's a ‘jewel’ of a fort. Ratangad Fort is situated atop a hill overlooking the Bhandardara region. Kalsubai Peak and the Konkan-Kada are visible from here. Standing tall amidst other great peaks of Alang, Kulang, and Kalsubai, Ratangad Fort is also a part of the Ajoba mountain range. Ratangad is the origin of the river Pravara. Ratanwadi is the base village of the fort. There is a beautiful Amruteshwar Shiva temple in the village built in the 9th century in Hemadpanti architectural style. The view of lakes from atop will leave you speechless!

Best time to visit:
Undoubtedly monsoon is the best time to visit Ratangad fort but the trek can be done throughout the year.
Highlights of the trek:

• Standing in the ‘Eye of the needle’ is a major attraction
• While ascending the fort via the ladder route, the flow of Pravara river runs along with us.

ITINEARY
Day 01: Friday

• 06:00 am Start to Kalyan from Chennai central.

Day 02: Saturday

• 04:20 am Reach Kalyan station, get into a private vehicle, and start to Ratanwadi Village.
• At 07:00am, reach the village, have breakfast at the base camp, and drop your bags for trekking ( Pack your lunch).
• 08:00am start trekking to Ratangad (on the way you come across Amrutheshwar Temple, Bhandardara Dam, magnificent lush green view points and hilly villages).
• 1:00 pm reach the needle point and spend some quality time.
• 2:30 pm Start trekking down and reach our base camp/stay by 7:00pm and rest.
• Night Dinner will be provided

Day 03: Sunday
- 05:00 am wake up and freshen up.
- 06:00 am Start to Honey Falls, Vasundhara Falls, and then to Kalyan Station to board a train to Chennai.
- 07:30 pm board a train to Chennai.
Day 04: Monday
- Reach Chennai by 04:30 pm.
NOTE: THINGS TO KNOW & CARRY FOR THE TREK
1. There will be No Phone signal at Ratanwadi unless you're a BSNL customer.
2. Carry your water bottle to avoid buying plastic bottles and littering the place there. Be a responsible trekker!

3. Water rides, jeep rides, and anything taken apart from the itinerary is self-payable.
4. Smoking & drinking at your own risk.
5. HTD/ CTD/ BTD will reserve the right to cancel the trip or your participation in the trip if the agreement is violated. Let's be responsible travelers.
6. In case of unforeseen weather conditions, Technical limitations, or government restrictions, certain activities may be canceled and in such cases, the operator will try his best to provide an alternate feasible activity. However, no refund will be provided for the same.
7. Your seat might be in RAC, WL, or confirmed depending on the date you've paid the advance. If your ticket doesn't get confirmed after the chart preparation, we will book a bus ticket to the destination at an extra expense.
8. Cancellations: If cancellations are made 7 days before the trip's start date, a sum of 2,500/- will be deducted and the rest of the amount will be credited back to the backpacker. If cancellations are made 0-6 days before the trip's start date, 100% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
