Discover UENO PARK๐ŸŒฟNational Museum of History & view Special HANIWA Exhibition

Details

Whether you've explored Ueno Park & visited Tokyo's National Museum of History before or not, please join our special tour of the National Museum Complex, which is actually made up of 5+ important buildings, not just the 2 main Hon-Kan (Japanese History) & the Heisei-kan (Archeology) museums, because we may have some surprises for you!
โœŒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜ƒ
Strolling from Ueno station, we'll talk about some of the other significant museums, artworks & monuments we'll pass along the way. Afterwards, we'll take you around to discover a few fascinating places in Ueno Park that many people don't know about!
๐Ÿ”†
At the National Museum, we'll attend an important special exhibition featuring the latest discoveries related to HANIWA, the wonderful, but mysterious sculpted clay figures which date from the ancient KOFUN-ERA, from 2,200-1,300 years ago, before this country had a written language!
๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป
"For the first time in fifty years, the Tokyo National Museum is presenting a special exhibition about HANIWA, the remarkable tomb sculptures of ancient Japan. These diverse sculptures take the form of people, animals, buildings, tools, and weapons, providing vibrant glimpses into early societies."
๐Ÿ”†
"2024 is a special anniversary year, as Warrior in Keikล Armor, one of the most finely crafted & well-preserved haniwa in existence, was designated as a National Treasure fifty years ago. In celebration of this anniversary, the Warrior, together with related haniwa & those representing other regions throughout Japan, will be displayed on an unprecedented scale. We invite you to take advantage of this rare opportunity and experience these Haniwa first-hand, witnessing how their richly expressive forms range from the rustic to the adorable."

We have been visiting & exploring Ueno Onshi-Koen since 1991, so we've made many interesting discoveries about this remarkable place, which was a gift to the people as one of Japan's first National Parks, being dedicated in 1888!
