Let’s discuss “THE MESSAGE” by TA-NEHISI COATES + dinner, drinks @ Wilde Bar

Details

The Message is a must-read. In his latest marvelous, short book, the author of the acclaimed Between the World and Me exhorts readers, including students, parents, educators, and journalists, to challenge conventional narratives that can be used to justify ethnic cleansing or camouflage racist policing. Coates investigates African ancestry and identity, political power and polarity, and offers a damning assessment of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Ta-Nehisi Coates originally set out to write a book about writing, in the tradition of Orwell’s classic “Politics and the English Language,”but found himself grappling with deeper questions about how our stories—our reporting and imaginative narratives and mythmaking—expose and distort our realities.

PLEASE JOIN US FOR OUR FIRST MEETING OF THE NEW YEAR! AND AS USUAL, AFTER THE DISCUSSION WE’LL GO TO WILDE BAR FOR DINNER, DRINKS, AND CASUAL CONVERSATION. WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THEN!
