What we’re about
We are a friendly and successful outdoor group, set up via the YHA organisation in the 1930s. We offer a wide range of guided walks throughout the Chiltern area and the Thames Valley. Most of our walks start at a railway station and we offer lifts to locations off the rail network. Walks range from 6-12 miles and are well researched with pub stops arranged for refreshments.
As well as our weekly walking programme we also offer a comprehensive programme of weekends away(our YHA status provides discount booking), cycle rides, and camping trips (equipment provided) in the summer. We offer training events to learn map navigation and leadership skills.
We benefit from our own hall where we arrange regular social events, BBQs, new members social evenings and training events. We offer a lively social programme with group meals, music events, Festivals and monthly pub socials to allow everyone to meet other members.
Our main group is HAWOG and ALL walks are free for members. It is just £10 to join and there is no need to book for day events. Join via: https://www.hawog.org.uk/membership.php
This meet up group has been created to let people know about the events we arrange. We are a non profit making voluntary group, thus we can offer very competitively priced trips away. Membership provides benefits such as affiliated YHA membership and discounts at all major outdoor shops. Come along to any of our events on the calendar, if any questions contact us on “[email protected]" For our full current programme see
