Biomaterial Workshop

Details

ChiTownBio is just getting started, and one of the things we're most excited about is people rolling up their sleeves and diving into exploring biotechnology. We're excited in the coming year to get people working on creating and experimenting with novel biomaterials.

We know that plastics and plasticizers are a growing problem in our environments. Plastics and many other associated chemicals reside in our environments for years, decades, centuries, and even millennia. But they also serve essential roles in our lives. They allow us to transport materials, preserve our food, build the materials around us, and protect our medicines. So how do we build new materials to replace plastics that are more environmentally friendly and less of a direct threat to the health of our friends, families, and larger communities.

Join us for an open house day of material building and experimentation. What can you build when you have shared resources and an enthusiastic community. We're excited to see everyone come and explore our space as well as build some materials they can contemplate, experiment with, expand upon, and evolve into the materials of the future.
