Christchurch Food Lovers and Social group

Have a passion for food and fun? Want to sample the city's eateries, get together and make new friends? You've come to the right place!  Majority of members are 40 plus but we have no age limits. This is all about being social and making friends.

There is a NZ$12 per year membership fee to enable us to pay Meetup for use of the site. When you join you will receive an email with bank details and 30 days to see if this group suits you and pay the fee, which is on a pro rata basis. The year runs from 1st October to 30 September, so if you join in January only $9 to pay.

Events vary throughout the year. Although majority of events are at a variety of restaurants we also do regular walks aimed at the 'older' folk. We also have potluck meals (bring a plate with food on!), picnics (especially at summertime events), and visits to food trucks, markets, and festivals.  On top of that we may do more active things such as Go karts or Ten pin bowling, but usually food in there somewhere.

Please note that because we do make bookings at restaurants, and the venue is then dependent on us turning up, we do insist that you keep your RSVP up-to-date and let us know well in advance if you can no longer attend. Life happens, and we get that; just be courteous and change your RSVP in a timely manner so we can either change the reservation numbers or give someone on the waitlist a chance to attend.
Membership includes people who have 'always' lived in Christchurch, but also a large number of blow-ins from all corners of the world; we can resemble the United Nations most outings! Couples are also welcome, just come along and join in the group.
The one thing we are not is a dating site.  It is all about being social and while we think it is great when a friendship turns into more, we actively discourage members just randomly messaging other members.
