What we’re about
We are a group of Linux novices, experts and enthusiasts from Indianapolis and surrounding areas that enjoy getting together to share ideas and solutions, learn about Linux and discuss all things Open Source. Meetings are typically held on the first Wednesday of the month.
Our main webpage is at www.cinlug.org where you will find past discussions and meeting topics. We also have an IRC channel, #cinlug on irc.freenode.net, as well as our Facebook group and Google+ community pages.
CINLUG meetings are typically held on the first Wednesday of each month at the Glendale IndyPL Branch. They start at 6:00pm and the presentations usually last about 1 - 1.5 hours. The meeting is usually followed by an open discussion for any questions you may have about anything. Membership dues are accepted throughout the year. They are not required for attendance, but are encouraged to help with funding events and expenses. Just show up and find out more to see if you want to become a member. CINLUG is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Our tax ID number is 35-2099735. Donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent provided by law. Our 501(c)(3) documentation is available for review. CINLUG is run by an elected Board of Directors and according to the rules laid out in the CINLUG bylaws. Who do I contact?

See all- December 2024 CINLUG Meeting — RHELevant Security Practices LabMoser Consulting, Indianapolis, IN
Central INdiana Linux User Group is ending 2024 with an exciting event — an interactive lab to learn how to secure Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems!
In this lab, you will learn how to implement security best practices to harden RHEL systems. Joshua Loscar will provide a step by step guide to set up a basic lab either online or locally in KVM, covering Ansible basics for automating security configurations. You will then learn how to create a system baseline and talk about how to manage risk with practical examples, as well as cover the tools to apply security frameworks and avoid common misconfigurations. He will also provide recommendations for a green field implementation.
Throughout the lab, you will gain practical skills for securing your systems and tracking changes, starting from security 101 and building up to more advanced topics. This lab is designed to be accessible to anyone, with follow-up courses available for deeper dives into specific topics.
By the end of the lab, you will have a repeatable method for hardening RHEL systems and tracking changes, ensuring that your systems are secure and compliant with industry standards like CIS, DISA STIG, & HIPAA.
CINLUG’s meeting will begin at 18:30 (6:30 PM) EDT on Wednesday, December 4th.
CINLUG thanks Moser Consulting for hosting our meetings at their facility. (There will be a phone number at the entrance to call to be let into the building.) The meeting will be simultaneously broadcast over this Jitsi Meet URL for those who cannot attend in person. (Though in-person attendance is encouraged.)
CINLUG meetings are the 1st Wednesday of every month, so please block that night off in your calendar to keep it available! Tentative upcoming topics are:
