My name is Ron, I’m your Meetup Organizer, and thank you for volunteering 😊 **Your RSVP on this page won’t reserve a spot for you in a volunteering shift; this page will allow you to RSVP even if today’s shift is filled up**, and Bread for the City’s shifts tend to fill up fast. In order to reserve your spot, please follow the steps below.
**About**: Bread for the City was created in 1974 by a coalition of downtown DC churches. Since 2011, Bread for the City has been offering food, clothing, social services, legal representation, and medical care without charge to eligible DC residents. I had a great experience while volunteering a shift at Bread for the City (BFC), so I decided to share my experience with you; however, **I’m not available to host or attend this event every week, so probably you won’t see me during your shift**.

2\. Click the “I’m ready to serve\!” button\, which will redirect your browser to a volunteering website; just follow their menus\.

**Location**: You’ll receive the address of your volunteering site after you sign up. I know you won’t show up to volunteer until you complete the registration process; however, this has happened before.
**Meet other Meetup members!** After you’ve signed up, why not RSVP here on Meetup for the same time as your shift? The point is that you may be able to meet other members signed up for the same shift as you, make new friends who may have a schedule similar to yours and, most importantly, help people in need 😊

**FAQ**: Is the food vegan? Answer: no, and sorry, but we still don’t have volunteering events which are exclusively vegan.
**Rules**: Please read carefully Bread for the City’s rules, which you should receive while you’re signing up for a shift; you may be required to be fully vaccinated and wear a face mask; participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or a guardian; we are an adult group: we try to keep our activities safe; however, you are the one responsible for your own safety; Meetup Group organizers, hosts, attendees, and members are not liable for you and your guests in the event of any hazards, losses, or perils.
