Use of Gestures and Voice

Details

The 3rd session in our new speaking programme: You'll learn how to use gestures effectively without overdoing them. You'll also learn how to use your voice effectively with appropriate changes to pace, pitch and volume and (most importantly) using pauses in all the right places to make the speech most effective. Examples will be given from more experienced members.

You'll also learn how to evluate a speech and we'll hold the club evaluation competition to select the member who will go through to compete in the East Anglia Area Evaluation contest to be hosted by Colchester on 18 February.

Don't forget you can earn your Foundation Certificate in Public Speaking by the end of your first season and your full ASC Certificate in Public Speaking by the end of your second season. You'll then become an Accomplished Speaker of the ASC (Association of Speakers Clubs) which is a CPD accredited certificate and can be shown to an employer to verify your speaking skills. Please come along and try us out - I guarantee you'll learn a lot about public speaking :-) Coming along as a guest is free and if you decide to join us it will cost £35 per year for 11 meetings with full membership of the ASC the bargain :-)

Colchester Speakers Club is a fantastic place for beginners to overcome their fears and take their first steps on the road to speaking confidently in public. It's also suitable for more experienced speakers to improve their skills. We also welcome people who have a specific goal in mind, for example: acceptance speeches, wedding speeches and work based presentations. Over the years we've developed some very effective and proficient public speakers. Guests are very welcome to come along to see how we operate.
