How to deliver an Impromptu Speech (Topic)
Details
The 4th session in our speaking programme: You'll learn how to deliver an impromptu speech with little or no warning of what you'll be asked to speak about. Believe it or not you can learn to do this and deliver a 2-3 minute speech with little warning of the subject. Examples will be given from more experienced members.
Following this we'll hold the club Topics competition to select the member who will go through to compete in the East Anglia Area Topics contest to be hosted by Colchester on 18 February.
We'll also have our Christmas Party so please come along and talk to us in an informal and relaxed atmosphere and decide whether public speaking is or isn't for you.
Don't forget you can earn your Foundation Certificate in Public Speaking by the end of your first season and your full ASC Certificate in Public Speaking by the end of your second season. You'll then become an Accomplished Speaker of the ASC (Association of Speakers Clubs) which is a CPD accredited certificate and can be shown to an employer to verify your speaking skills. Please come along and try us out - I guarantee you'll learn a lot about public speaking :-) Coming along as a guest is free and if you decide to join us it will cost £35 per year for 11 meetings with full membership of the ASC into the bargain :-)
Colchester Speakers Club is a fantastic place for beginners to overcome their fears and take their first steps on the road to speaking confidently in public. It's also suitable for more experienced speakers to improve their skills. We also welcome people who have a specific goal in mind, for example: acceptance speeches, wedding speeches and work based presentations. Over the years we've developed some very effective and proficient public speakers. Guests are very welcome to come along to see how we operate.
