Hello fellow hikers!

On Saturday, 30th November, we’ll be visiting one of the most beautiful **[Christmas markets](https://www.monschau.de/tourismus/weihnachtsmarkt/)** 🎄 in the region (and possibly in all of Germany)! Monschau, recently crowned the **[most beautiful small town in Germany](https://ostbelgiendirekt.be/monschau-schoenste-kleinstadt-399896#:~:text=Das%20Reise-Magazin%20Travelbook%20hat,zwischen%20Belgien%20und%20Nordrhein-Westfalen.)** by the Travelbook Awards 2024, is a charming medieval village nestled in the Eifel Hills, near Aachen and just a few kilometers from the Belgian border. Famous for its **half-timbered houses, narrow streets**, and the **river Rur** flowing through the heart of the town, Monschau is truly a magical destination.

Our travel itinerary is as follows:

* **Departure: 08:15 Köln Hbf (RE 1) [Platform 9 D-G]**
* **Arrival: 09:03 Aachen Rothe-Erde [Platform 1]**
* **Departure: 09:12 Bahnhof Rothe-Erde (Bus), Aachen (Bus SB66)**
* **Arrival: 10:11 Altstadt, Monschau**

In addition to the festive Christmas market 🎄, Monschau offers **lovely natural landscapes** with many scenic hiking trails. We'll explore the area on a hike and end in the old town, where we can enjoy the Christmas market 🎄, sip on some warm **Glühwein** 🍷, have some food and take in the charming atmosphere of this beautiful town for some memorable experiences. So don't miss this one! 🙂
