What we’re about
Come join us as we explore Colorado with others who enjoy Backpacking, Day Hiking and Camping.
Our focus is on backpacking, but day hikes or camping trips are also welcome. All backpacking skill levels are welcome, and we encourage all to post trips from short and easy to longer and more challenging. We encourage members to become trip organizers and post trips they would like to go on. If you have a trip you have always wanted to do then post it and you will probably find others want to as well. Don't wait for others to post your trip, it may never happen. Message the lead organizer to become an organizer.
Our backpacking trips will involve hiking several miles or much more on trails of varying degrees of difficulty for one night or more in Colorado's many remote wilderness areas. These trips will require you to have your own gear, like backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, stoves, food, rain gear and other gear that you will be carrying on your back to keep you safe, fed, warm and dry. We practice Leave No Trace principles to leave the wilderness as pristine (or better) than we found it. Please be prepared with all the gear you will need to enjoy (and survive) Mother Nature. Backpacking participants will need to be over 18, unless an adult family member is going. Dogs are sometimes allowed on trips but check with the organizer. Please read the entire description of each trip to note the experience level required for that trip.
Year round trips are welcome (we are one of the few groups that goes winter camping) if you can find the motivation.
Special Note: We are here to have a safe group experience in the wilderness with others that we can trust. The whole point of this meetup is to backpack as a group so that we are not out there all alone which is unsafe. We have one main rule - Respect! (failure to follow this one rule can get you banned) This is why we have so much fun as we always show respect for each other, the wilderness, and others on the trail.. respect!
We hope you will join us in our exploration of Colorado. We always welcome more event organizers to plan and lead trips.
