Details

Fossils, Fish and Sea Foam

We will meet at the parking spot for the paleontology walk at 1:50 - 2pm. After exploring for fossils we will discuss whether to move to a better spot for tide-pooling and sunset.

*PALEONTOLOGY WALK*
Saturday November 16, 2 – 5 pm
Take a trip back in time with paleontologist Wayne Thompson of Pacific Paleontology. See what lies beneath the sea when Saturday's king low tide (-1.4) exposes fossils of creatures from an ancient ocean on north Waddell Beach.

Meet at Cove Beach, north of Waddell Beach and south of Año Nuevo State Beach. Map

Free Parking: Park in the pull-out on the wet side of Highway 1, south of the entrance to Año Nuevo. Map

Overflow Paid Parking: Año Nuevo State Park lot (walk south on the New Year's Creek trail)

There is ample parking, but if you would like to carpool, sign up here.

For more details, Rancho Del Oso Nature and History Center site here.
There is a creek crossing, so heavy rain will cancel the walk.

If Saturday's event sparks your interest and you want more, join Wayne again on Sunday in Capitola:
