What we’re about

The group where you pick your own book book for each meeting. The "Pick your own book"-book club is for us book readers who doesn't have the time or energy to power through a specific book chosen by a book club but instead wants to go their own way while still meeting other book lovers to share their reading adventures with.

We meet each month at a chosen location (usually the central library) to share what we have been reading lately and to simply meet others who enjoy reading books. Each person choose their own books (1-2 books max.) to read and during the meeting we each make a short presentation, sharing our thoughts on the books we have read.

The group is still at its experimental beginning, so location, time and structure might change, but let's gather and meet to see where the journey goes. :)

FAQ

Where do you meet?
For now, it will primarily be at the Central Library in Copenhagen. The
library just reopened its fourth floor where there are good spots for
book groups to gather.

How often do you meet?
As there is just one organizer/host for the moment it will be up to
when the organizer has time, but it is the aim to meet every third or
fourth week, so at least to give time to find and read books.

What genres do people usually read?
It all depends on what kind of people show up to the meetups. Sometimes
people have read a lot classics. Other times Fantasy and Science
Fiction. What genres doesn't matter. What is important is that people
wants to come together and share their readings, recommendations, and
suggestions.

Do you have specific topic for books you read?
As for now, the group is simply just meeting to share our reading.
There might be room for future meetups where a specific topic or genre
can be used as a thread. If that happens we will of course make clearer
guidelines at that point.

How much preparation do I need to do for my presentation?
The presentation part is just to add structure to each meeting and to
give each participant a chance to talk about their reading adventures.
What and how you choose to focus on is entirely up to you.

Can I present and advertise my own book?
No. This is not a meetup for authors to find readers for their newly
self-published literature.
