Saturday Write-in
We will be writing this Saturday!
Whether it's pecking away at your novel, journaling, stream-of-consciousness, assignment for your writing class, or just sitting your butt in the seat—we're taking the time to write!
Since our writing time is short and valuable, we'll get straight to writing:
• introductions
• short writing prompt
• longer writing (with options for prompts)The goal is to write, so work on whatever projects you have going. If you're stuck or just getting started, this is a great way to get your pen, brain, or fingertips moving. Whatever it takes to get words on the page.
Use this as the base of your writing practice or a warm-up for the rest of your day of writing. Come with your computer and/or notebook and pen/pencil.Don't forget to RSVP! Space is limited to ensure an intimate group and time to get to know everyone in the time available.
You’re welcome to stay for the Critique/Sharing hour afterward - we will use the same Zoom link. We'll have a short break and come back for the critique. You do not have to share what you wrote in the writing group the same morning; it can be any writing for which you'd like feedback.
If you have any trouble joining the Zoom meeting, log in to Meetup and click on the event page. Near the top right is the link. The event page should have any other info you'll need for signing in. We start promptly at 10 to make the most of our time.

Corvallis Creative Writers Saturday Sharing/Critique
After we give ourselves time to generate new writing, we'll take a break and come back to share our work. You don't have to share what you write that morning; it can be anything you're needing feedback on.
There are two rules (so far) in this group:
- Thank the person for sharing.
- Don't offer credit or critique if you don't have any.
Sometimes, in workshops, we feel like we need to say something or share. That's not the case. And it sometimes leads to people resorting to obsolete or irrelevant "rules" of writing that aren't true and are often not helpful.
Share if you want to. If you just want to share, tell us, "I'm just sharing," or, "I want to share, but I don't want/need feedback." We will say thank you for sharing, and move on.
For critique:
• If you liked/loved something, be specific.
• If you were confused by something, speak up.
• If you have an idea for the writer, put it in the form of a question: "What would happen if the character did this...?" Or: "What if you changed the setting to 1955?"We will develop this critique group as we go to make sure every writer is getting the most out of it.
This group can be combined with the Saturday Write-In that comes before it. If you attend the Saturday Write-In, you can stay in that meeting for the sharing/critique hour.
Remember to RSVP for both meetings.
