Details
This is a fairly established social bicycle ride and if all goes well I will try to make this event a twice a month or even a more frequently scheduled gathering. Most often this ride will take place on Sunday mornings. This is good for those people who have a weekend day off of work. For those who have responsibilities in the early morning but have some time to spend on the bike just for the joy of it, fresh air and sunshine. And feel free to bring as many other riders as you can. It's not a difficult ride but the distance varies from 12 - 15 miles depending upon the group. The speed is a blistering average of 10-12 miles an hour, brisk at times but not even near exhausting. Imagine the pace of a school speed zone. You should be confident on the bike but do not worry about getting dropped. We will designate catch-up points along the ride, leaving no-one behind. The course is well traveled by Cheri our co-leader and myself and every attempt is made to avoid traffic where able. Most of the ride is scenic with loops through parks and bike lanes are available where necessary. Of course wind may be a major factor during the ride-let's just be loose. And I ride in the rain. Mountain bikes and hybrids are best, but street bikes, cruisers, tri-wheelers and recumbents are welcome, no bike of any type is left out. We will be sidewalk surfing-giving way to infrequent pedestrians-for much of the out of park travel. We will end up back in the park where we started from. Bring a snack for the ride, we'll stop near the end for a short energy break. Everyone is welcome, there is no cost. Just show up and introduce yourself. Let's just have fun!
