**Discussion of "James" by Percival Everett**

We had 4 excellent nominations this month and I selected this one because we've had quite a few non-fiction books recently and this should make a pleasant change.

The book is a re-working of the Mark Twain classic: Huckleberry Finn, with the slave Jim as the eponymous central character.

The book was short-listed for the 2024 Booker Prize which is an indicator that it is quality writing and the reviews are generally very positive.

As a lot of us will be travelling and preparing for Christmas I've decided to give us 7+ weeks to read it.
