Experience why Wildwoods Beach of Cape May consistently wins Best Beach and Best Boardwalk awards on this 10-mile Smart-guided bikeway tour.

The tour route is a 10-mile There-and-back* tour - 92% bikeway - mostly level route - oceanfront tasty spot towards the end. It includes the legendary Wildwoods Boardwalk and Beach, an amazing combination of things to see and do. Make this an early adventure because the boardwalk is open to bicycles between 5 AM and 12 Noon. The parking location is free. The beach is free. The boardwalk is free. The sun is free - and there is lots of it on this mostly unshaded tour.

The tasty spot is pet-approved on Bring Fido for those touring with their furry friend (details provided with tour ticket). Wildwoods Beach has a dual dog - small dog/large dog - exercise area plus a spectacular section of ocean beach set aside for them.

Points of Interest :

  • Sunset Lake - On the other side of the island is a lake known for spectacular sunsets and calm, smooth waters.
  • Atlantic Ocean - hands down the nation's favorite oceanfront vacation destination - based on vacation travel data. Her warm waters, soft sandy beaches, moderate-sized waves, and hundreds of entertainment, recreation, and nature preserves dotting America's eastern coastline give her the edge over the Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Great Lakes coastlines.
  • Wildwoods Beach - legendary beach, at some points 500 yards deep, known for its quality sand and well-kept condition. Bonus - this is a tagless free beach which is not common in New Jersey.
  • Wildwood Boardwalk - the 19th-century beginnings of a few planks along the beach became one of the nation's most renowned vacation destinations. 38 blocks of award-winning oceanfront real estate with all the entertainment bells and whistles that can be fit into 2 miles of beach make this boardwalk a popular vacation spot.
  • Ocean Oasis Water Park - this waterpark built on a deep oceanfront pier with its own beach area makes hot summer days all that more enjoyable.
  • North Wildwood Sea Wall - marks the island's north end where the ocean pounds away at its hardest. It is a scenic spot with expansive ocean views.
  • Hereford Inlet Lighthouse - this historical 1874 operational lighthouse is open for tours, and great ocean views.
  • Wildwood Dog Park and Beach - a 20' fire hydrant and beach area for dogs.
  • Morey's Piers Amusement Park - classic beach amusement park.

Two bikeways:

  • Beachfront Bike Trail
  • Wildwood Boardwalk

*There-and-back (TAB) Tour - The route arrives at a turnaround point and returns to the starting spot.

HERE'S THE PLAN: You bring a bike and a smartphone. CycleNuts provides the smart-tour guide! Via an email, you receive an expertly designed tour route. Click the emailed link and follow the Selfie Tour route using your smartphone as your smart-tour guide for the Voice and Map guided turn-by-turn instructions.

The Meetup plan = Show up, Rally with whoever else shows up, and Roll following the smart-guided instructions. This is a repeating event on the calendar but the date and time do not necessarily need to be what is posted. This Smart-guided tour route can be used any day or time, solo or with others.

It is posted with a repeating set time and date with a tour leader to fit the Meetup format and encourage you to get out and ride. The actual leader of the tour is you or whoever shows up to ride with a smartphone.

*Generating a group ride - If you are going to ride and would like the company of others, RSVP and post in the comments the date and time you are planning for. If you are interested in riding solo or with your private group of friends, then don't RSVP or post your plans

The mission of this format is to create a catalog of free group tour routes available for CycleNuts to ride as a group, or solo, in an area spanning several states.

The goal is to get people out cycling either in groups or solo.

The vision is a cycling community with resources available for bike tours, bike talk, and a format for lives experienced at the speed of bike.

We wish you a funtastic memory-making adventure!
