Friday social ride: Gatineau Park and Old Chelsea

Welcome to the Fall Gatineau social rides. The Park is closed to all car traffic on Fridays! Note: best parking spot is 5-10 minutes early @ Remick Rapids and cycling in to Champlain bridge.

* Beginner friendly *
This a social ride intended to be friendly to both beginner and veteran cyclists. No riders are dropped but experienced riders are free to set their own pace and groups. please come out and join us!
* Note on Fitness: must be comfortable with some hills this season.

* Ride time: 1.5 to 2.5 hours
* Start: 17:00 @ Champlain Bridge Parking
* Give yourself a few minutes to find your group and a minute to go over group ride safety and etiquette.
* P3 pickup: 17:15+ to 17:25
* Finish @ Remick Rapids patio or Champlain bridge parking

Distance: 46.3 km, Climbing: 594 m

* This will be an (*) easy going ride through Gatineau Park, with brief pauses at Pink Lake and P8 (@ Meech Lake road), followed by an optional climb up Kingsmere to P7 before rolling straight back down to Old Chelsea to regroup and a break at the Biscotti. We will return via Chemin Notch and Chemin de la Mine to the #5 cycle pathway, to Gatineau Parkway, P3 and Champlain bridge.

(*) The Pace.... flexible
* Upon request the ride leader will keep an easy going pace group at the rear: expect 20-22 kph average.
* Those comfortable with a quicker pace are encouraged to go ride ahead & repeat hills at their own speed before P8 or do the Kingsmere climb before regrouping at the Biscotti in Old Chelsea. (Front group expect 22-28 + kph )
* Road bikes are encouraged. Although hybrids are welcome be prepared to work a little harder to keep up.
