What we’re about
Our Ethos:
We are part of Utah Outdoors, a hiking group where we passionately believe that the great outdoors is for everyone. Hiking isn't just about conquering summits; it's about forging connections, building community, and rejuvenating the spirit. Our mission is to offer a welcoming environment where individuals of all backgrounds and skill levels can come together, share experiences, and collectively enrich their lives through the beauty of Utah's outdoors.
We believe that through our shared experiences, we can inspire one another to venture beyond our comfort zones, build resilience, and create lasting memories. Our goal is not just to hike, but to elevate lives, promote well-being, and build a community bound by respect, enthusiasm, and the shared thrill of discovery.

Event Details:
Join Utah Outdoors for a delightful social gathering amidst nature's beauty! We'll embark on a scenic hike to a breathtaking spot where you can bask in the glory of summer sunsets or the enchanting city lights during winter evenings. Our primary objective is to cultivate a strong sense of community, ensuring that hikers of all proficiency levels can partake in this adventure.
This event is a collaboration between the Utah Outdoors group and our Slow Hikers Unite Utah community on Facebook. We're also excited to extend our invitation to members of Davis County Outdoors.
Meet Bryant, the event organizer. Feel free to visit his Facebook profile to familiarize yourself with the person leading the hike if that makes you more comfortable.
The Hike:
Our standard Wild Rose hike, either a loop or an out-and-back trail, covers a total distance of 2 miles with an elevation gain of approximately 344 feet. Occasionally, for a more challenging experience, we take the trail to the peak above the Wild Rose Trail, a roughly 3.6-mile loop with greater elevation gain. We will update the event description when we do this hike.
The Gathering:
We'll be bringing a charcuterie board and some crackers; you're welcome to contribute to the board and share your own treats. Additionally, don't forget to bring a beverage of your choice, and maybe some to share. Wine, whiskey, or beer are popular options among our hikers. We recommend carrying drinks in a non-breakable container.
Safety Essentials:
To ensure everyone's safety, please bring headlamps as we might return in the dark, especially during winter hikes. We recommend rechargeable Black Diamond headlamps such as the Astro 300-R (recommended), or the Storm 500-R which is the brighter choice. Trekking poles can help you maintain you balance, many of us use them regularly.
Winter Hiking:
During the winter season, we strongly recommend carrying and using micro spikes to enhance your traction on potentially icy terrain. Our top pick for reliability is the Kahtoola MICROspikes.
