Lost Poets: An Open Poetry Slam
Details
Experience the Power of Poetry at Lost Poets Open Slam!
Calling all poets—whether you're stepping onto the stage for the first time or you're a seasoned performer, this is your chance to shine! Hosted by Happy Writing Co., the Open Slam Night is all about celebrating the art of spoken word and performance in a welcoming and supportive environment.
(Poets in header image are Ash Aliyeva, Elena Natroshvili, Jessica Wright, and James Kenward)
Event Details:
- Doors Open: 7:00 PM
- Sign-Ups: 7:15 PM (at the stage)
- Mic Goes Live: 7:30 PM
How It Works:
The night kicks off with sign-ups at 7:15 PM, right at the stage. We’ll take the first 10 poets who sign up, so be sure to arrive early to secure your spot. Each poet has up to 4 minutes to share a piece that resonates with the evening's theme.
Our upcoming themes are listed at the bottom of this post.
This is more than just a competition—it's an opportunity. For new poets, it’s a chance to gain confidence, explore the world of performance, and connect with a community that loves to support emerging talent. For experienced poets, it’s the perfect platform to test out new material and sharpen your delivery before taking it to larger stages.
Evening Breakdown:
- Round 1: 4 poets perform
- Break: 10 minutes
- Round 2: 4 poets perform
- Break: 10 minutes (audience voting)
After we’ve heard from all the poets, the audience will cast their votes, and we’ll crown the Slam Poet of the Month—an honor that recognizes not just talent but the courage to stand up and share your voice.
Open Mic Session:
From 8:30 to 9:00 PM, we’ll open the stage to everyone. This non-competitive open mic session is your chance to share whatever’s on your mind or in your heart, in a space where creativity flows freely and all voices are heard.
Why Take the Stage?
Our Open Slam Night is designed to encourage poets of all levels to grow, experiment, and find their voice. Whether you’re polishing a piece for a larger audience or taking your first step into performance, you’ll find a supportive community ready to cheer you on.
