The National Home Funeral Alliance's 2024 Deathcare Superconference is being held in Seattle, WA September 27th-29th. There is a welcome reception the evening of the 27th and a tour of the Recompose facilities on Sunday, the 29th - these events can only be enjoyed in person.

Saturday, September 28th is packed with over 20 amazing speakers in the deathcare industry and will be shown virtually! See a snippet of the speaker lineup below.

If you can't make it to Seattle but you really want to take advantage of all the great information and amazing speakers,
but you don't necessarily love watching virtual conferences, at home, all alone...

Then join us all day on Saturday, September 28th at the Conscious Crossroads & Death Doula Professionals office, right here in Albuquerque, for a group watch party!

11:50 - Panel #1: Legal Issues What should we know about current U.S. legal issues in deathcare? Panelists will discuss recent legal cases in deathcare, such as the cases in California and Indiana, as well as the impact of the updated Funeral Rule.
12:35 - Conversation #1 How do recent legal cases in deathcare impact practitioners?
12:55: Panel #2: Affordability What are the current systems in place to promote affordable deathcare? Panelists will discuss indigent death programs across the United States and court-appointed Public Guardianship Burial Programs.
1:40 - Conversation #2 How might we improve affordability in deathcare?

3:30PM - Panel #3: Culture How do diversity, equity, and inclusion issues impact how people access current deathcare systems, both formal and informal? Panelists will discuss their own experiences in accessing deathcare.
4:15 - Conversation #3 How might current deathcare systems be expanded to provide more inclusive care for all?
4:35 - Afternoon Break - Light Refreshments Served
5:15 - Panel #4: Models of Care What are our models for inclusive, affordable deathcare? Panelists will discuss A Place to Die, the Humane Prison Hospice Project, medical aid in dying (MAID) care, Omega Homes, and more, as well as how these offerings might be expanded across the U.S.
6:00 - Conversation #4 How might these models of care impact the deathcare we provide in our own communities?

  • Ben Field - Attorney @ Institute for Justice - Advocating for and defending doulas in court cases in CA and IN.
  • Aditi Sethi, MD - Executive Director, Center for Conscious Living & Dying - The EOL Doula featured in The Last Ecstatic Days Film
  • Joe'l Simone - The Grave Woman - specializes in educating professionals about the importance of Cultural Competency, Racial Inclusion and Diversity in end of life, death and grief care.
  • Mel Bennett - Co-Founder of The Life Forest, a Non-Profit Conservation Cemetery.
  • Tiana Dargent - Queer Community Deathcare - provides educational modules on queer and trans affirming end of life care to deathcare students of all varieties, and directly consults with end of life organizations and service providers to support them in offering 2SLGBTQIA+ appropriate services
  • Tanya Marsh, JD - Tanya is the author of The Law of Human Remains (2015), and co-author of Cemetery Law: The Common Law of Burying Grounds in the United States (2015).
  • Laura Musselman - Director of Communications for the Human Prison Hospice Project - She believes deeply in the accessibility of compassionate end-of-life care, and that the right to die with dignity is an essential human right.
  • Ashley Johnson, President of the National End of Life Doula Alliance will be moderating the panels.
