Discover new places to eat, meet interesting people, and have some great conversations about life.
After applying, members are matched in groups of 4 and are assigned to a new local restaurant to enjoy a meal together. Sometimes you may be matched with people very similar to you, and sometimes very different.
Before the dinner, each group member receives 1-2 "deep" questions. They can choose to either ask their questions to the group, or pose their own. Questions can include anything from philosophy, politics, religion, sexuality - really anything is fair game.
After dinner, group members are asked if they'd like to keep in touch with anyone else in the group. If two group members want to stay in touch, their contact details will be shared with each other.

Deep Convos is having its first ever dinner! All are welcome.
Join us to meet other interesting people in Oakland, explore new restaurants, and have some incredible conversations.
- After you sign up, you'll be emailed a confirmation.
- One day before the event, you'll be matched with 3 other attendees based on your preferences, and receive an email with the restaurant where your group of 4 will meet.
- One hour before the event, you'll receive an email with 1-2 questions for the group. Questions can include anything from philosophy, politics, religion, sexuality - really anything is fair game. If you don't like the question, you can absolutely just use your own alternatives. If you don't feel comfortable answering any questions, you can always pass. In general, we encourage everyone to try to lean in and at least try to answer each question.
- Dinners usually last for 90 minutes to 2 hours. You are responsible for paying for your own portion of the dinner.
- The next day, group members are asked if they'd like to keep in touch with anyone else in the group. If two group members want to stay in touch, their contact details will be shared with each other.

- Contribute $5 to the cause by sending a Venmo payment to @drubeck1 with "[Your Name] - Deep Convos" in the comment.
The $5 is really just to ensure that folks are committed and to help grow the community. If you have any issues contributing $5, no worries. Please reach out to the organizers and we'd be happy to make exceptions. If we can't find you a dinner group or if you can't attend for any reason, we'll refund the $5.
As with any similar event, the organizers cannot be held liable for anything that happens at these events (although we'll absolutely take credit if it's all positive!), and are not responsible for any costs incurred beyond the $5.
