**Look for the National Forest Recreation Area sign (featured photo above) off of SR 19 to unpaved hard pack road.**

**Word of caution, you will have to drive down a 4 mile hard pack forest road....This forest road is alittle rough in spots so drive slowly and watch for ruts.🤐**

**It's hunting season so wear an orange shirt, hat or outerwear if you have any.**

From the trailhead near Farles Prairie Recreation Area near Altoona, Fl we'll head south to Buck Lake via the Florida Trail. This is an out and back hike thru a sand pine scrub forest in the Ocala National Forest. Trail is considered easy and well marked. I haven't been on this trail since the 2024 hurricanes so it might be alittle challenging. This is a relatively short hike, around 5-6 mile. We'll take a break when we get to Buck Lake and then head back to the trailhead...

Parking lot is small, so car pool if you can.
Suggest sturdy shoes/hiking boots, water and bug spray.
