CATTUS ISLAND MORNING HIKE (Moderate)
Details
Let the fresh Shore air clear your thoughts so you can focus on the natural beauty you'll experience. This 6 mile hike will Start an End in the Cattus Island parking area. The entrance to the park is pictured in the feature Photo. The hike will encompass parts of the red, yellow and blue trails. There are restrooms and porta pots along the way. You can expect to see various wild life including different birds. The trail is basically flat but offers a diverse variety of outdoor beauty. We'll traverse woodlands, wetlands, grass fields, on multiple boardwalks, through patches of reeds, over small beaches along the water, past bird blinds and even stop at the environmental center. This county park offers interactive exhibits, local history and ecology of the Barnegat bay ecosystem. At the hikes end some may wish to check it out. I recommend. hiking boots as the trail is Rooty, rugged and very wet in some areas. I always recommend water. I also find a hiking stick a must and a hat to be useful. It's a beautiful place to hike. I've added some pictures to give you a feel for the trail. The smell of the pine forest while walking along the bay is invigorating and something you need to experience to appreciate. I will leave a painted inspirational rock (my trademark) to mark our presence. Hope you can make it. Paul contact# 609-540-2513
