DCC 20th Anniversary Celebration!
Details
Can you believe it? Denver Cinema Club is 20 years old! To mark our anniversary, we're having a celebration at Bruz Off Fax, one of our favorite post-movie haunts. Join us for casual fun, movie chat, catching up with friends and celebrating the Denver Cinema Club Community! Thank you!
We'll start the afternoon with films at the Sie FilmCenter, Gladiator II and All We Imagine as Light. After the films, we'll head over to Bruz, where we've reserved the bar's "garage" for our celebration. (We created separate events for the films, which are optional. If you would rather just go to the party, that's completely fine.) Beverages and snacks will be provided.

A little DCC history: The club was started in 2004 on craigslist. The first film it saw was I Heart Huckabees, on October 28, 2004, at the Mayan Theatre. The club had its own web site back then, to track the films it saw, and where. You can see the club's movie log on the internet archive web site.
In 2011, the club moved to Meetup. The first film the group saw after moving was The Tree of Life, on July 14, 2011, at the Esquire. Click here to see what the club's Meetup page looked like in August of 2011.
In its early days, the club saw films at regular intervals--first bi-weekly, then weekly--and members voted on which film to see. When the club moved to Meetup, the weekly events became extremely popular, and members would RSVP weeks in advance to hold their spots. Around 2013, we stopped the polling--it was work!--gradually added organizers, and started scheduling multiple events a week. We now have ten organizers, plus our fabulous professor, John Anzalone, and in 2023 we hosted 164 events.
The club's original organizers have moved on, but we are forever grateful for what they started. Here's to our next 20 years!
