What we’re about
Dancing! Live Bands!
80s rock! Plus other dance-able music. If you can’t help but dance to it, we dance to it too. "Now we got country and western on the bus, R and B, we got disco in eight tracks and cassettes in stereo" (Jackson Brown, 1977).
Most of our meetups will be geared toward evenings/nights. We also enjoy afternoon and early evening dancing events. Meeting times will generally be about 1 1/2 hour before first-set. You will not find usin assigned seats. Rather, we prefer to mingle and get to know each other.
If you watched MTV launch (during a break from college, high school, or junior high), you fall within the age range of this group. We'll even accept 6th graders who ditched school to watch. But we do not condone 5th graders ditching school.
Video might have killed the Radio Star (MTV’s first song), but it could not stop us from dancing. Our group includes physically active people mostly between 40 and 65. In other words, if you have Millennials to the right of you and Boomers to the left, you're stuck in the middle with us (Stealer's Wheel).
Have you had enough of happy hour meetup-only groups? Not exhausted from hiking with trail-only groups? Come out for a night of "sweat 'til you bleed dancing!" (C+C Music Factory, 1990)
Our rules are we have no rules. But, we reserve the right to banish trouble makers (TMs) to the Barry Manilow Meetup.
We will never charge for our events.
We will never make anyone we like wear name tags.
We will never wait list you - unless the event/venue requires it.
We will never turn you away (for late/non-RSVPs).
We will never harass you for no-shows.
What will we do? We will welcome you. We will keep this meetup open and friendly. We shall enforce chaos.
