Details

Note: this event starts a little earlier than our usual events.

This event will be hosted at Game Train USA (a full bar/restaurant/board game store).

This event is just like the regular Monday or Wednesday games except we've changed the title and banner to encourage women to make up the majority of the player-base at this event.

Pro Tip: It's worth it to waitlist for these games. Waitlists of players encourage DMs to step up and run extra tables. We pull in waitlisted players quite often.

One of the reasons we love D&D is it's ability to bring people together from a diverse set of demographics into a shared story telling environment. This isn't an attempt to create a separate women's league/campaign or separate regular game night that excludes the gentlemen. Rather, it's a periodic special effort to reach out to folks that might feel uncomfortable just showing up to a typical pick-up game without knowing anyone in advance. We hope you'll come, learn to play D&D, get familiar with the venue, and meet some friends that you might see around in regular D&D games. Maybe even swap contact info and RSVP together in the future?

New to D&D?: Good. We all were once. Just come. No need to bring anything besides yourself. We'll set you up for the night with all you need to play and answer all your questions.

D&D Characters: We’ll be playing with level 3 characters. You are welcome to create your own level 3 character before hand (using standard published rules). Please plan to play a character of a LG, NG, or CG alignment (it just works better for a one-shot with strangers). Please also create your characters using the standard array system for attribute selection. If you're a newbie, you're welcome to just show up and we'll have some pre-generated characters you can use.
If you'd like to print your character sheet in advance, I've uploaded some to this google drive folder: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1FQTNcVJZiqNkZbfMqtCTL5NHgl7hxf2V?usp=sharing

Attendance: The event is free to attend. Attendance is capped so we have the right amount of people. Please RSVP with a higher level of certainty than you would for an online event because we can't just reach out to the Discord community to back-fill no-shows.

Game Train Minimum Purchase Requirement: Game Train requires attendees to purchase any combination of food, beverage, or retail products adding up to $25 each visit or you will be charged a $7 fee for just coming to play. These purchases/fees cover "your enjoyment of their venue".
None of that money goes to the event organizers or dungeon masters who do all they do as volunteers pursuing shared experiences in their favorite hobby. Please keep in mind that our dungeon masters may also be newbies themselves. This is still a free event run by un-paid volunteers... but in a nice venue that needs to manage to pay their employees somehow.

Special Note: We like our venue and they are very supportive of us. This particular event tends to get a lot of participation all arriving at once on what is usually a slow evening for them. Please still support them by placing orders for food and drinks,... but also please be patient with their limited kitchen staff.

Feel free to ask additional questions in the event comments below.
