Talk 1 - Compound AI Systems - Building Gen AI Applications
by Prithvi Kannan - Software Engineer // Databricks
AI development is shifting from monolithic models to compound AI systems—integrated frameworks combining multiple models, retrievers, tools, and agents. These systems deliver superior performance and flexibility, enabling innovative applications beyond what single models can achieve. Building compound AI systems presents new challenges like measuring quality, as well as many familiar challenges in software such as fast iterations, governance, and deployments. Databricks is building the tooling to make customers successful in building these Gen AI applications. -
Talk 2 -Connecting Guild Learners to the Right Programs: Integrating Recommender Systems with GenAI
by Jeremy Beck - Data Scientist // Guild -
Guild’s mission is to empower mobility by connecting the workforce with learning opportunities. In this talk, Guild's Applied Science team will showcase how we are reimagining recommender systems by integrating compound GenAI technologies alongside recent ML-driven algorithmic updates to our member experience. These innovations enable flexible, interactive, and deeply personalized recommendations to better meet member needs.
We’ll share insights from our GenAI development journey, focusing on the rapid prototyping of a chat-based recommender system now deployed for Guilders and undergoing user testing with members. Join us to explore how Guild leverages cutting-edge AI to connect learners with the right programs and empower their unique paths to success. -
Talk 3 - Learn AI Agents by Solving Problems AI that are Already Solved
by Brooks Patton - Software Engineer // Brooks Builds LLC
We’ve heard of AI agents, but how can we create them? One solution is to create solutions to problems that are already solved. This allows us to create fun, silly projects that use similar architecture to real-life projects. The Agent in this case uses Llama running locally with Ollama with some glue code in Rust to tie it all together. Code and the slides will be available for download.
This event is generously sponsored by Databricks and we are collaborating with the Denver Data Dudes and Dudettes.

Don’t worry, our Denver/Boulder chapter is not a community of just MLOps practitioners (Machine Learning Operations). We also enjoy other awesome things like Machine Learning Development, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, LLM Operations, and open-source data projects.
