What we’re about
If any of you saw the iconic photographs of "Summer of Love", you'll LOVE the work of photographer Irving Penn. One of his most famous books, "Worlds in a Small Room" was an inspiration to me and many other photographers in the '60s & '70s. He was a renowned Vogue magazine photographer, but he then traveled the world doing "Northern light" photography (exclusively individual and group portraits against blank backgrounds) of many different cultures, and his work is stunning.
If you want to see this exhibit (that includes The Summer of Love photographs), it's showing at the DeYoung art museum through July. I have plans to see it at the end of May (Memorial Day weekend) and want to see if any of you want to join us. Yes, it's the Memorial Day weekend, but there's a lot going on in the Bay Area and it would be fun to be down there at that time. If anyone is willing to drive down on April 23rd or 24th, we can put together a MeetUp trip to the Bay Area.
Please private message me if you want to go. It would be a kick to have a Humboldt contingent travel down together to see the exhibition at the DeYoung, maybe catch some music in the city, and enjoy some good food. Let's go to the Bay Area for the Memorial Day weekend and have some fun!
