What we’re about
Join me every Friday in Amsterdam Oost for a 75-minute Hatha-Vinyasa community yoga class.
My aim in creating this class is to foster a welcoming space where yoga practitioners can deepen their practice while keeping it accessible with a low-cost approach.
Let’s grow together as a community and enhance our well-being in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Class Description:
With a strong foundation rooted in traditional yoga, both as a dedicated student and an experienced teacher, I bring an authentic and mindful approach to my classes. My practice began in India, where I studied Hatha Yoga with locals, and continued through a daily Ashtanga Yoga. You can expect a class deeply connected to the traditional teachings of yoga.
Hatha is one of the six mane branches of yoga that uses physical postures to preserve and channel vital energy (prana). The word "hatha" in Sanskrit literally means "force," referring to a system of physical techniques designed to prepare the body for meditation.
Hatha yoga balances the mental and pranic forces, helping practitioners cultivate a deeper state of awareness and peace.
Vinyasa, derived from the Sanskrit meaning "to place in a special way," is a practice that links breath with movement. By aligning a sequence of poses with breathing, Vinyasa promotes a continuous flow of energy. While some poses may be held for several breaths, the emphasis remains on moving fluidly from one posture to the next with each inhalation and exhalation.
These two styles are not separate, but complement each other beautifully, which is why I have named the class Hatha-Vinyasa Yoga. The goal is to help you connect with your inner self while moving through a traditional, balanced practice.
Each class begins with a brief meditation or Dharma talk to center the mind. We then transition into warm-up movements and Sun Salutations, progressing through standing, seated, and finishing postures. The practice concludes with a calming relaxation (Savasana) and a final meditation to leave you feeling grounded and rejuvenated.
Together, we can grow, support one another, and enhance our well-being.
Hope to see you in class soon
