Weekly Buddhist Meditation Service, Topic: "True" Buddhism
Details
This evening, we'll explore the question of authentic Buddhist practice. As Buddhism spread from its origins in northern India 2,600 years ago, it took on the flavors of the cultures that it encountered, resulting in a myriad of traditions, practices, and fundamental ways of thinking. Even a practitioner today in central Pennsylvania would be greeted with representations of Buddhism that are different enough to make one wonder, "Which is the 'real' one?"
Join members the Blue Mountain Lotus Society, Dragonfly Sangha, each Monday evening at 6:30pm in the undercroft of Mount Calvary Episcopal Church for a weekly Buddhist meditation service as we seek to find peace in our hearts, connect with the world around us, and discover meaning during challenging times.
Each service includes a brief liturgy and talk based on the teachings of the Buddha, followed by an offering of incense and meditation.
Open to all faiths and backgrounds, join us as we come together in celebration of inner peace, loving-kindness, joy, and compassion.
Every week on Monday until December 22, 2024
