In the coastal city-state of Ehmana, nestled on the shores of the Sea of Intrescil, a life of discovery awaits those brave enough to dive into the past—literally. As part of Greater Intrescil, Ehmana thrives as a hub of commerce and scholarship, thanks to its proximity to the vast inland sea formed after the Aluvance, a cataclysm that wiped out the ancient civilization of Intrescil a thousand years ago. Today, adventurers known as Delvers are in high demand, risking life and limb to explore the submerged ruins and ancient wreckage beneath the sea, hoping to recover treasures long lost and knowledge buried in the depths. For the Delvers, it’s a life of danger and reward. They face treacherous waters, hostile creatures, and traps left by those who tried to protect their secrets. But the rewards are undeniable—riches, fame, and the occasional arcane artifact capable of altering the course of history. Ehmana’s thriving economy is built on these discoveries, with scholars, merchants, and noble patrons funding expeditions to reclaim the relics of a forgotten age. For some, however, the greatest prize is knowledge, the chance to piece together what caused the Aluvance and obliterated the once-mighty civilization beneath the waves.
Now, something has changed. A recent storm has uncovered a previously hidden section of the seabed, revealing ruins that had been lost to time. Early reports hint at an artifact of immense power—a relic that could finally explain the mystery of the Aluvance. Scholars and treasure hunters alike are scrambling to be the first to explore this site, but there are whispers that some secrets are best left undisturbed. Could this discovery unveil the truth of the cataclysm, or will it bring about a new wave of destruction?
As Delvers, you and your crew are on the frontlines of this expedition. But as you descend into the depths, it quickly becomes clear that you’re not the only ones searching for answers. Ancient forces, hidden rivalries, and forgotten magics stir once more. What you uncover could reshape Ysterra—or doom it.
This will be an ongoing campaign starting at either level 1 or 2, with players embarking on a long-term adventure filled with opportunities for character growth and world-shaping decisions. We will be using the updated D&D 2024 rules, but if the group prefers, we can easily switch to the 2014 D&D 5E rules to ensure everyone’s comfort and enjoyment. All ancestries will be considered, and players are encouraged to bring forward homebrew or 3rd-party content for discussion and potential inclusion, provided it fits within the narrative framework of the campaign. I also offer a variety of custom homebrew options tailored specifically for the world of Ysterra to enhance the experience. The themes we’ll be exploring include Adventure, Intrigue, Exploration, Mystery, Survival, Ancient Magic and Technology, and the Legacy and Consequences of the past, promising a rich and diverse experience where your characters’ actions will have a lasting impact on the world of Ysterra.
You can find out more about the homebrew world of Ysterra at https://theokayestgm.com.

Crown of Steam is set on Earth in an alternate timeline where the Industrial Revolution, powered by a newly discovered element known as galvanite, went far beyond the scope of our history. The balance of power was forever shifted by massive airships, ironside submersibles, mechanical automatons, and even stranger contraptions that bend physics to their very breaking point. One of the most startling devices is the Misri Ring; invented by Jayra Misri in an attempt to allow for instantaneous long-distance communication. Instead, she opened a portal to the Fair Realms allowing unprecedented contact with the immortal creatures of faerie. While mortals and fey had occasionally slipped through from time to time when the moon and seasons were right, the Misri Ring allowed for permanent portals to be established.
First contact kicked off a war between mortal and faerie that lasted over two decades. Now, due to the Twilight Truce: the two realms have entered an uneasy peace. Fey creatures have become a somewhat common sight in human cities and economic incentives have been put in place to encourage human pioneers to stake claim within the Fair Realms.
You take on the role of a member of Adelguard’s Society for the Exploration of our Wonderous World or just the “Wonder Society” for short. The organization sponsors adventures into all corners of the Earth in search of strange new discoveries. The Wonder Society has recently expanded its membership to include members of the fair folk and is now making a concentrated effort to catalog the seemingly endless mysteries of faerie.
The Wonder Society uses Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition with expanded rules for steam technology and firearms. Characters begin at 3rd level and may choose to play as a human, warforged or a member of the fair races (elves, dwarves, gnomes, etc.).
