🎲 Welcome to D&D 5E for Beginners+, a group dedicated to making Dungeons & Dragons accessible to total beginners!
🎲 Back in the summer of 2021, I started a D&D community in NYC with 500+ members, which ran open tables, dedicated tables, and a large West-Marches style campaign. The group was and remains committed to introducing new players to D&D and building a community around the game. D&D 5E for Beginners+ is my attempt to do the same thing here in Asheville. I hope you will join me!
🎲 The goals of this group are to (1) host learn-to-play sessions, (2) run beginner-friendly oneshots, (3) teach anyone interested how to be a Dungeon Master, and (4) build a community of individuals interested in D&D around a shared Discord server with an open table system at the center of the gameplay.
🎲 Players of all experience levels are welcome, as long as you are respectful of the fact that many players (and DMs) here are just starting out on their D&D adventure.
🎲 This is a predominantly in-person group taking place in various locations in and around Asheville, NC.
🎲 We run primarily OPEN TABLE sessions, which means that tables are run with players RSVP-ing to each session on a first-come, first-serve basis and the majority of tables are oneshots. Sessions can also be player-driven, i.e. players can get a group together and request that a DM run a table for them.
Players do not need to have experience playing D&D, to have attended previous sessions with us, or to commit to future games. The only requirement is that they bring a completed character within the specified tier level. This allows for flexible scheduling and low commitment and is a great way to introduce new players to the game.

That being said, I encourage players and DMs to find folks they enjoy playing with at the open tables and start dedicated campaigns together! Both the Discord and Meetup are available for organizing purposes.
(We may start a group-wide West Marches style campaign at some point in the future as well … but that’s for later.)
