What we’re about
The ORIGINAL and LONGEST RUNNING Book Club in Downtown Santa Ana!
“Ah, how good it is to be among people who are reading.”
― Rainer Maria Rilke
Do you love a good bit of fiction? Do you want to be “among people who are reading?” Well, you’ve found us! We are a co-ed book club that meets monthly at Chapter One: the modern local in Downtown Santa Ana.
Is this the book club for you?
Do you enjoy reading and discussing books with a diverse group of people?
Do you like modern fiction?
Do you want to participate in a vibrant discussion that encompasses varying viewpoints?
Are you over 21 years old (It IS called “Literature and Libations” after all)
Can you contribute to the discussion even if you haven’t quite finished the book?
When and where?
We will meet the second Tuesday of each month 6:30 – 8:30 at Chapter One: the modern local in Downtown Santa Ana in the Red Room (Private Room).
What will we do at the meetings?
We socialize and discuss books. We don't dissect each page in excruciating detail, but we DO discuss the book. We’ll start with some general discussion questions and then see where the conversation leads us – impressions, opinions, viewpoints and thoughts about the book. Most important for us, we want participants to feel safe sharing their opinions – please listen respectfully and inclusively and be prepared to share your thoughts. Discussion moderators rotate each month to keep the conversation fresh.
How are the books chosen?
Participants suggested books earlier this year and the club voted on what to read next. We are always looking for additional suggestions. Book suggestions should be modern (In general, published after 2015), fiction, and less than 350 pages.
