What we’re about

My name is Aurelie and I am doing a part time MSc in Ai online with the university of Limerick.

Just to clarify I am the organiser of the Dublin Ai meetup group and not Charul, I am just sharing the meetup account with her and she organises another meetup group.

I am creating this meetup to connect and maybe make new friends with students , professionals and anyone interested in Ai !

This meetup will take place once a month and we will meet at 2 pm at the Camdem court hotel in Dublin 2 in the lounge area, generally the sofas on the right at the entrance.

Camdem court hotel
Camden Street Lower, Saint Kevin's, Dublin, D02 W086

The meetups are now limited to 60 participants, please only answer if you can make it.

*Please note that we cannot stay more than 2 hours so the meet up will end at 4pm , also we cannot clutter the space (ie having 30 people sitting at one table and having more people standing or bringing more seats ) as this is blocking the way to the staff and also to ourselves. We need to spread over several tables.
Thanks for your understanding.

Did you know that advancements in AI are really slow? Since the past sixty years AI advancements are mostly about improving algorithms which is not as glamorous as what the media , hollywood , even academics and other fellow students may want AI to sound like .

What are AI algorithms ? (This was part of an extensive research I did for one assignment and I thought I would share an extract as I find it interesting and you might too and I find it to be a good reminder too , I also got a good grade ;) and the lecturer loved it , just putting this out there so that you don't think I make things up regarding these AI algorithms :D )

  • Search Algorithms

There are many search algorithms and one of the popular ones that fall into the uninformed search category is the DFS , Depth-first search. It is an algorithm that searches a whole tree or graph by starting from the root node and explores all the branches until it reaches all the other nodes in the tree/graph. It was discovered in the 19th century by a French mathematician , Charles Pierre Tremaux as a method to solve mazes. The Hill Climbing algorithm that falls into the informed search category is an algorithm that acts like climbing a hill hence its name. It randomly climbs a direction
and will continue to climb until it reaches the top of the hill. It doesn’t go backward and keeps going higher.

  • Machine learning algorithms

A machine learning algorithm is an algorithm that is able to predict an output based on an input , a set of data that we provide. There are different types of machine learning algorithms such as supervised learning and unsupervised learning. The popular supervised learning algorithms are Logistic regression and Linear regression. The logistic regression algorithm generates a binary output , it is an algorithm that is used for binary classification of data. The linear regression algorithm is used when
you have a set of data/features that you need to examine to predict an outcome. One of the unsupervised machine learning algorithms is the reinforcement learning which works with a trial and error logic and offers rewards and penalties that are tracked/recorded so that after making an error it doesn’t repeat the same error.

  • Statistical analysis integration algorithms

Statistical analysis integration or also called data integration algorithms combine
data together for analytical purposes and it comprises different techniques such as
data mapping, data extraction and even data visualisation. There are different types
of data integration algorithms such as ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) . ELT does exactly what the letters stand for , it extracts the data and loads it and then transforms it. There is also the ETL algorithm which extracts and then transforms the data before loading it.
