Guided Tour of Mountjoy Prison Museum, North Circular Road
Details
Come join me on a guided tour of Mountjoy Prison Museum curated by Sean Reynolds, a retired Security Officer in the prison.
Meetup details:
We will be meeting outside the new Mater Hospital doors at 10am. We will leave at 10.20am and will meet Sean at 10.40am at the prison gates.
Sean will bring us to the small museum, we will have lunch in the staffs subsidised canteen, only bank cards are used for payment.
After lunch, we will visit the bigger museum.
Please do not stay on the Going List or the Waiting List if you have made other plans, it is unfair to members on the waiting list that do wish to attend.
The first man hanged in Mountjoy was John O'Toole, evecuted on the 7th of March 1901 for the murder of Lizzie Brennan on Charlemont Street; the last execution was that of Michael Manning on the 20th of April 1954 for the murder of nurse Catherine Cooper.
This little museum contains hundreds of artefacts, many of them donated by family members of retired or dead prison staff.
24 hours notice is required when changing your RSVP.
2 No Shows or 2 late cancellations will result in removal from the group.
See you at the entrance doors of the new Mater hospital on North Circular Road at 10.10am on Tuesday the 19th of November.
