Hi Back by popular demand! The beautiful, spread out, and quiet group site Great Horned Owl at House Creek campground (not to be confused with the separate McPhee Reservoir Recreation area!) accommodates 60 people, including sites for RVs (the two RV sites with electricity will be given to the first two people who request them; Jill has one of them). Picnic tables with overhead shelters; the largest picnic table shelter has electricity. Vault toilets; no showers.

COST
The $120 per night fee will be split amongst those who attendpand should be about $15 per person per night.

ACTIVITIES
The Saturday night potluck will have a theme TBD.

Hiking trails from the campsite. Several times, we've hiked Saturday morning along the reservoir to Dolores and have had lunch on the patio on the river at Montezumas. We'd need to shuttle some cars Saturday morning into town. The hike is called McPhee overlook via House Creek campgroubd and is 7.1 miles long and 760 feet elevation gain so pretty flat. 9:30 or so start time if we do this.

Mountain bike trails close by at Boggy Draw.

Can drive to the boat ramp to put in kayaks and paddleboards on the beautiful water of McPhee Reservoir. Anyone have a speed boat?

Guitar playing, lawn games, word games, and dancing at sunset!

MEALS - would love a meal coordinator to make the shared meals happen!
Shared meals: Saturday and Sunday breakfast and dinner.

On your own. Friday night dinner, all lunches, Monday morning.

FIRES
Wood fires allowed in fire rings, but we'll have a propane firepit if we want to avoid fire risks. Can I please have some volunteers to bring firewood?

We'll set up command central (Robert's large tent and cooking apparatus aka Chateau Shapley) next to the small covered picnic table.

RVs with generators: please park above the bathroom to preserve the quiet of narure in the common eating, cooking, and socializing areas between the two covered shelters.

Talk it up and bring your friends to a lovely hidden gem campground!

DIRECTIONS From Colorado Highway 145 in Dolores, turn left at 11th Street, continue on Country Road 31 which becomes Forest Road 526 at the Forest Boundary. Continue 4.8 miles and turn left at Forest Road 528. (Look carefully for the small House Creek campground sign just before the turnoff, and look for the small 528 sign. Mapquest directions can be wrong and lead you way past this turnoff!) Once in the campground, take the first left which is UNMARKED except as a hiking trail, and you'll soon see a sign for the Great Horned Owl group campsite.

CHECK-IN and OUT
Check-in time is 2pm on Friday, and check-out time is noon on Monday.

PETS
Pets allowed! The rules state that pets must be on a leash, and this was requested of us once by a park ranger in the four times that we've camped here. There is a fine for pets off-leash.
