Walking in Peak District
Details
We will be staying at the YHA hostel in Ilam. This 17th Century gothic manor sits in 84 acres of National Trust parkland, with the beauty of Dovedale just on its doorstep. The beautiful youth hostel is full of character and nestled near the quaint village of Ilam.
Friday: After check-in we will do a leisurely walk visiting the famous stepping stones. This is a lovely part of the White Peak. Dovedale is a beautiful part of the country with views along the River Dove.
Saturday: We plan a 10-mile walk through the Dales of the White Peak including Dove Dale, Wolfscote Dale and Hall Dale. Great views and beautiful flora and fauna throughout the walk. Interesting caves along the river on the first half of the walk.
Sunday: After de-bunking we plan a visit to Crich Tramway Museum, a lovingly restored period village that is also home to the National Tramway Museum and its world renowned archives. Travel on one of the many working trams before bidding our farewells.
