What we’re about

Hello everyone,
I want to start by saying how grateful I am to see all of you here today, and to have the opportunity to share in this journey toward recovery and support. My name is Kathy, and I am both honored and humbled to be leading this support group.

What our group is all about.

Before we dive into our discussions and stories, I'd like to give you a little background on why this group is so important to me. I've personally battled with an eating disorder for over 20 years, so I understand the challenges and pain that can come with it all too well. But, I'm here today as living proof that recovery is possible. I've fought those demons, and I am now recovered.

I believe that it's essential to understand that eating disorders are not just about food. They are complex mental health conditions that often serve as a way to cope with deeper emotional struggles. These disorders take various forms and can be incredibly isolating, not only for those who suffer but for their families as well.

The purpose of this support group is to create a safe space for all of us to share our experiences, provide understanding, and offer encouragement. It's a place where we can learn from one another and find strength in our collective wisdom.

However, it's essential to remember that I am not a medical doctor, therapist, or counselor. I'm simply someone who's been through the trenches and has found a path to recovery. The stories and insights shared here are not a substitute for professional medical advice or treatment. We should all consult with healthcare professionals as needed for personalized guidance.

I encourage everyone to respect the confidentiality and trust that we build within this group. Together, we can create a supportive community that fosters healing and growth.

Thank you for joining this support group, and I look forward to walking this path of recovery and understanding together with each one of you. Let's embrace hope, resilience, and the power of shared experiences.

With that said, let's open the floor for anyone who would like to share, ask questions, or simply listen. Your presence here matters, and your stories are important.
