What we’re about
Let's Eat the World! While our prime focus will be Chinese restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley (from the 710 Freeway to the West, the 60 Freeway to the South, 210 Freeway to the North, and the 57 Freeway to the East), we will venture all over the LA and OC counties as well as parts beyond. We will also explore global cuisines from Japanese to Sri Lankan to Nigerian to French and more.
Be prepared to share the dishes family-style, as most events will be designated as family-style dining. However, there will be occasions where each individual will order their own entree/main dish. Be sure to bring cash, as many hole-in-the-wall places do not accept credit cards.
New Members: You will be given a 3-month free trial membership to our group. By the 90th day, if you like to continue being a member of our group, we will need you to pay annual membership dues of $3.88. These membership dues will be used to pay the semi-annual dues to MeetUp.com for our group. A portion of the membership dues will also go to WePay, which is the payment system used by MeetUp.com to collect funds from members for membership dues, charged events, etc.
REMEMBER, FOR EVERY EVENT YOU SIGN UP PLEASE FOLLOW THESE RULES:
1. If you need to cancel your RSVP, please do so 48 hours before the start time of the event.
2. New members of the group who No-Show to their first event will be banned from the group.
3. If you are on the Wait List, then it is YOUR responsibility to monitor your status on the Wait List and update your RSVP accordingly. If you didn't get an email or notification from the MeetUp app about being moved from the Wait List to the Going List, then you need to modify your account settings in order to receive these notifications.
4. Please provide the organizer with your contact number at the time of signing, so that the organizer will have your number in the event the organizer needs to contact you about the event. If you don't, then your RSVP will be canceled.
5. For events designated as Family-Style Dining: Dining for this event has been designated as Family-Style. The food bill will be split evenly between all attendees. Attendees will be responsible for paying for their own beverages. Please note that flexibility is an important part of family-style dining, and if you want to take a chance to attend, you have to be amenable to what the group/AO will order. You don't have to eat everything that is ordered, but everyone pays equally, whether you eat everything or not. Most of the dishes we order will be at least moderately spicy. If this definition of Family-Style Dining doesn't feel comfortable, this may not be the right type of event for you. In addition, if you have ANY dietary restrictions or ingredients you do not wish to consume, then you may want to skip this event. Ordering dishes modified to fit someone's dietary needs or personal tastes will alter the true flavors of those dishes for the rest of the group.
6. Be sure to bring CASH to pay for your portion of the bill.
7. COVID-19 Rules for attending any of our events: Attend if you have received at least one Pfizer, Moderna, or Janssen J&J shot and will provide proof of vaccine shots by CDC's V-Safe passport displayed on your smartphone, or show a photo or printed copy of your Covid-19 vaccination card. Also attend, if you are comfortable with the fact that we will be seated at tables that will provide at least 1 to 2 feet distance from the person sitting on either side of you. Do not attend if you are experiencing any symptoms such as fever (I will have a forehead thermometer on hand to check everyone's temperature), cough, runny nose/sinus congestion. Everyone will have their own communal fork and spoon to serve themselves food -- do not use them to eat from. Arrive wearing a face mask - remove it only when eating or drinking - if we are waiting for food, please put your mask back on, and when you leave to the table for the restroom, etc. Watch your conversation volume to avoid spraying your saliva over the table and food. I apologize for all these rules, but we must be as safe as possible to prevent the spread of Covid-19. If you cannot agree with these rules, please do not attend.
