Gay Men's Book Group - September 2024 Meeting - ‘Blessings’ by Chukwuebuka Ibeh

Our September book choice is ‘Blessings’ by Chukwuebuka Ibeh. The book has been described by The Observer as a “…poignant tale of a talented and sensitive Nigerian boy, Obiefuna, who is caught by his conservative father in a clinch with another young gay man… an emotive, affecting debut”.

We’ll be meeting in person on Wednesday 25th September at 7pm to discuss the book at The Outhouse, 12A Broughton St Lane, Edinburgh EH1 3LY in the loft upstairs function room. A few of us will be there from 6.30pm for pre meeting social chat. We alternate our meetings between in-person and online / Zoom meetings and so our October meeting will be online / Zoom.

We do suggest that everyone reads all or part of the book to get the most out of meetings. At the main Book Group meeting we discuss the book for usually an hour from 7pm, and then have more of a social chat afterwards. We have access to the upstairs function room at The Outhouse for the rest of the night so some people stay longer.

The Edinburgh Gay Men's Book Group is open to all gay, bi, trans men and queer identifying men, and is one of the LGBT Health and Wellbeing Centre's Community Groups.
