What we’re about

*Please note - This group does not give any priority to Meet-up Plus members. Everyone is treated equally and places on events are allocated strictly by rsvp time*

EAT, DRINK and have FUN
Since its inception in February 2014, these three simple objectives have been the pillars at the core of our group. Typically our events are centred around a midweek restaurant booking in Edinburgh with an optional drink before and/or after the meal. Variations beyond this template arise from time to time according to our members' interests and suggestions such as events at the weekend and outwith Edinburgh. A £1 donation when you attend an event is suggested to help cover the cost of Meetup fees.

Are there any rules?
We've never had a big long list of formal rules. We are all grown-ups, intent on making friends and enjoying ourselves, so we expect all our members to act with common sense and respect for one another.
For example,

  1. Use a recognisable profile picture - this will facilitate a successful meet and greet by the organiser at each event.
  2. Update your RSVP - if you find you are unable to attend an event at any time right up to the last minute. This also applies if you are on a waitlist. Remember to remove yourself from the waitlist if you would no longer attend if given a place. No-shows and last minute cancellations (less than 24hrs notice) may deprive other members of the chance to attend events. Offenders may be removed from the group.
  3. Have your notifications switched on - this will help keep you informed about new events, important messages from the organisers and keep you updated if you have been given a place after being on a waitlist. Saying you didn't know you had a place or didn't receive a notification is not a valid reason for a no show or late cancellation.
  4. Arrive on time and let the organiser know if you are running late.
  5. Help the event organisers in whatever way you can - they dedicate a lot of time and energy to the smooth running of each event - without them, the Group would not exist.
