Day trip to Dunfermline

Details

The doors open days are happening in September. So we are going to spend a day in Dunfermline visiting a couple of places.

Part I: Meeting time and train departures/arrivals:

  • We'll meet at 10:30am inside the Waverley station near Pret a Manger for the train departing at 10:48am (our estimated platform is 13 according to the Scotrail website). Please make sure to check that too while booking your ticket!

  • For people who are departing from Haymarket station, your train is at 10:53 (estimated platform is 2). Please make sure to check that while booking your ticket as well. We'll be all taking the same train. If you can't find us inside, please send a message to let me know and we can meet at Dunfermline city station once we arrive.

  • We'll arrive at Dunfermline city station around 11:22am. We'll wait for 15-20min minutes max at the station to have the group all together.

  • For people who live in Dunfermline/Fife, please meet us at the train station at 11:22am and send me a message to let me know, thank you!

Side notes:

  1. I recommend booking the Anytime Day Return ticket for more flexibility.
  2. The estimated platforms may be subject of change, so please just book your ticket and come in the indicated time of the meetup so you don't miss the train!
  3. According to the met office prediction, the weather in Dunfermline is going to be cloudy and probably with light breeze, I don't trust the weather here, thankfully I have always my hat on šŸ˜‚ . We might expect changes so better be equipped, you never know!

Part II: Timetable and Itinerary

    Fresh coffee shop
    Granary Cafe
    Little Royal Cafe

  • 1:45pm: Go to St Margaret Cave, the tour starts at 2pm (duration: 30min and is booked for 14 people).
  • 2:30pm: Visit Dunfermline Abbey/Palace.
